Avalanche Education
AIARE Level 1 is the foundational backcountry course. This is the focus of the camp, but spread across an entire week allowing the concepts to be fully grounded in real backcountry travel.
AIARE Companion Rescue. We will practice the essential skills of Avalanche Rescue several times during the week. And you can practice more on your own since we’ll be living in the snow for the entire week!
Backcountry Skills
Walking uphill. Sounds easy, right? But there is an art to setting a good skin track, managing micro terrain, and moving efficiently on skins.
Kick turns and how to avoid them. You’ll learn how to efficiently kick turn, but better yet, we’ll show you how and why it’s best to not use kick turns.
All who wander should not be lost, and we’ll teach you some Jedi navigation skills so you can find the best lines and your way home for apres!
